Not very friendly with begginers on the subject. The topics were very wide and it didn't really seem that organized. I couldn't keep up with the pace and chaos of the class.

great. It really was. ONe of the best courses I've taken online in a while. So there is nothing to complain about, really. Some background on the topic would definitely help but not absolutely necessary.

This was my first online course ever. I signed up for it as a trial run, to see what online classes were like, before starting courses I really wanted to take just after this one was due to end.

The description accurately informed me of the level of difficulty (Hard) but, with my background as a high-tech physicist/chemist and recent coursework in biology and physiology, I figured I could muddle along well enough to test the online learning environment.

This course was amazing! I was very relieved to hear the professor begin Week 3 with, "If you survived the first two weeks, the rest will be" easier. He did a great job of providing the background and vocabulary needed early so that it could sink in for subsequent sessions.

I have completed about 8 Coursera classes since taking this first one. This class should be the gold standard for how to run an online course. It was extremely well organized, support materials great, and the staff support and fora stayed professional and were very well run. I think a lot of participants dropped out in the first couple of weeks which probably kept the student interactions more academic than some of the socio-whine-ish directions more accessible classes have gone.

The professor was so inspiring, knowledgeable, professional, and engaging in his lectures that I really felt as though I was in an actual classroom. I did complete the class - even earning a certificate - but I will definitely take it again because I enjoyed it so much and think that there is a lot more to learn.

An excellent course that delivered as promised. Fresh and contemporary examination of features of neuroscience in 2013. Excellent use of a textbook (recommended, but not required). Instructor and staff very flexible in dealing with student requests. (As a lagniappe, a bit of a curiousity for people who enjoyed the teevee series "Numbers".)

Pleased to give it the highest rating and to recommend it to others should it be offered a second time.

One of my favorite MOOCs ever. I have a great interest and affinity to Neuroscience - so I'm openly biased. But Professor Lester put together a very engaging course on drugs of addiction and drugs for treatment. It was a nice mix of Biochemistry, Bioelectricity, Pharmacology and even some Psychology.

Since the course was short (5 weeks), there was a lot of material to cover which made it a bit hard to follow. Some background on (at least) Biochemistry is definitely required to keep up with the pace.

Professor is engaging and encouraging and tries to make some difficult material comprehensible. Background in biochemistry would definitely help a student.
