My opinion about this developer course is very much same as DBA course offered by 10gen.
Please see my review here
http://coursetalk.org/m102-mongodb-for-dbas

The two courses M101, M102 offered by 10gen (who developed mongodb) are the best. great Initiative from technology based company to start its own MOOC for the general public (for free) with a content that is easy to follow.

In IT Industry everyone talks about Big Data and I believe NoSQL is most crucial part of its stack. MongoDB is advertised as Big Data solution

Do you suggest any courses as prerequisites?
Actually, 10gen itself rectified this by introducing two new separate developer tracks for Python and Java. I saw couple of threads in the course forums that few guys are not happy with course for not being technology agnostic. but trust me we had to write very minimal code in Python and some mongodb commands for the assignments.
and as far as I remember there are only 2-3 problems where we have to code in Python out ~30 problems for the entire course.

I am looking forward for few other MOOC's from 10Gen focusing the advanced concepts

Great course for discovering MongoDB as developer. The courses are of quality and exercices aren't that hard if you have the time. The toughest part was getting fluent enough in Python. Definitely worth the time spent. :)

I learned a lot in this course. The videos were very well designed in small chunks with many hands on CODING exercises. I like that they had you writing queries right when you learned each concept/API. It made remembering the syntax easier in addition to applying the concepts. The homeworks were also well done. There wasn't much Python in the course - this could have easily been programming language agnostic.

I felt some of the lectures were a little to repetitive for an experience programmer, but the quizzes helped there too. If you get the quiz right, it showed you knew what was in the lecture and whether your assessment to skip it was on target.

The only thing I didn't like was the forum. One of the big advantage of large numbers of people taking a course at the same time is the interactions amongst students. I had difficulty finding discussions on topics other than "why is #1 correct." And I also couldn't figure out how to search for questions with zero replies - other students who needed help.

Finally, props to Andrew and MongoDb for getting up and running so fast after Sandy. My office lost power, but not my home. For the instructor to lose power in both locations and STILL hardly have a delay in the course was amazing.

Thumbs up for the guys at 10gen! They managed to teach an old dog like me* quite new NoSQL tricks seamlessly performed with their beautiful MongoDB! :-)

*P.S. Okay, I'm only 37, but in this business this means quite old... When I first touched a computing device, I did it to play Pong and Space Invaders...
